Laura A. Anderson’s fiction has, at its heart, a search for truth, with a focus on female characters. There’s sometimes a little magical realism, and often a bit of comedy thrown in.
Laura is now writing her first novel.
Dinner with Audrey
In August 2016 Laura presented her short story ‘Dinner with Audrey’ at Story Shop 2016 at the Edinburgh International Book Festival.
Story Shop is a highly competitive opportunity for Edinburgh based writers, which gives one writer a day the chance to read their story out in the popular Spiegeltent at the Edinburgh International Book Festival. It is run by Edinburgh UNESCO City of Literature Trust and the Edinburgh International Book Festival, and in 2016 hundreds of applications were narrowed down to 17 writers. You can watch Laura’s performance below:
In 2017 Laura’s story ‘The Advocate’ was selected for inclusion in the innovative Echoes of the City project.
Laura is one of 15 writers who won the opportunity to have a story included in Echoes of the City: Edinburgh’s Hidden Stories. Using Podwalk, people will be able to follow a map around Edinburgh that leads them to special locations in the city, where they can listen to a short story being read out. The story is also available to read on the Echoes of the City website.
