I’ve been a strict vegetarian since 2005 (not counting a brief spell when I was younger still) and have found that Edinburgh is a good place to live if you’re vegetarian.

In the olden days I ran a vegetarian blog, and also did some writing for a veggie magazine. Last year I shut the old blog down to concentrate on pastures new, but I’ve been itching to write about vegetarian Edinburgh since then. In the years that I’ve been vegetarian and my partner has been vegan I’ve amassed a good knowledge of places to eat well or buy vegan food in Edinburgh (as well as in Glasgow, Paris, London, Rome, NYC… one day I will write a veggie city guide!).

Last week I became a Google City Expert for Edinburgh, and have decided to use my Google+ review space to write about places to visit in and around Edinburgh with a focus on culture, film and literature, and venues which are vegetarian and vegan friendly.

You’ll find reviews for standard Edinburgh vegetarian restaurants like David Bann and Henderson’s as well as places you might not expect to grab vegan food in Edinburgh. How about vegan falafel at the Filmhouse? Pecan pie at Peter’s Yard? Spicy bean soup at a cycling shop?

If you’re interested in finding vegetarian and vegan food in Edinburgh, take a look at my Google+ reviews. I’ll keep adding to these with places I visit.

If you have any recommendations or questions, give me a shout out in the comments, on my Google+ page, or in a tweet.
